Modern slavery

In 2015, a law was created to cover all crimes of slavery, servitude and human trafficking.

Modern slavery is where victims are forced, threatened or tricked into circumstances where they have to work, commit crimes or prostitute themselves. Those responsible may be part of a criminal network which makes it extremely difficult for victims to break free without specialist help.

Whether locally or on a wider basis, there are experts to talk to, whether about your own situation, the circumstances of a person you have seen or heard about, or a person you know.

Look at the support tabs on the right for contact details or below for more information on support and how to report.

How to report

Is it happening right now with a risk of harm to people?

Ring 999 and ask for Sussex Police.

Are you aware of what might be happening but you don't think there is an immediate risk?

Ring 101 or report online to Sussex Police.

Additionally, you can speak to the Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority if you have reason to believe there are vulnerable or exploited workers by calling 0800 432 0804.
